I have a Canon PowerShot S1 IS 3.2 MP Digital Camera with 10x Image Stabilized Optical Zoom which I bought a couple of years back online at Amazon. Today I showed it to one authorized service center in Bangalore and came to know that the CCD of the camera is fault and it is a manufacturing defect.

I did a bit of lookup and found out the following -

It has come to our attention that the vendor-supplied CCD image sensor used in certain Canon digital cameras and digital video camcorders may cause the following malfunction: When the product is used in recording or playback mode, the LCD screen and/or electronic viewfinder may exhibit either a distorted image or no image at all. While reports of this malfunction have been rare in the United States, we have determined that it may occur if the product is exposed to hot and humid environments.

For more details check the service notice on Canon website. I have asked them to send it to their service center in Gurgaon. Let’s see how things work out. Will update this post as this issue progresses.

Do let me know if anyone has faced the similar problem
